Teaching Social Studies in a STEM-Focused World

Lessons learned from a half-century in the workplace

I am fortunate to have spent most of my career in both of my passions, media and education. As a journalist, I have produced high-quality news video for CNN, as well as authored and copyedited articles and stories for digital print in global and local media. I was the Executive Producer for CNN Student News for seven years. Mine was the first broadcast news program at CNN to convert to the digital platform. While at CNN, I was also a web editor and writer. You can see links to some of my articles posted here.

I have also served as Media Relations Director at the Georgia House of Representatives and handled public relations for shows, companies and individuals. I have authored curriculum components to position television news, programs and movies for classroom use. I have extensive experience in external corporate communication and can provide samples of media releases, blog entries, and proposals not presented on this page. I currently teach journalism at Georgia State University, specifically digital production and writing.
